I was eager to see the legendary pure-blooded Aryans said to have made their home in Ladakh. The Brogpas, inhabitants of Dah-Hanu, are said to be the last of the Indo-Aryan indigenous people in these parts. What marks Brokpas out, is that they have lived isolated lives for centuries in such an inaccessibly harsh terrain that they seem to have kept their DNA untainted by outsiders. The elaborate headdress that this lady is wearing is called a Kho and is decorated with bright flowers denoting the married status of women.
