JANMASHTAMI (DAHIHANDI) 121 20th Aug 2017
About Contest

The festive season is here, the month of Shravan brings in freshness, enthusiasm, and vigor. The entire tribe gears up to celebrate various festivals that come along. Janmashtami is one such festival which is eagerly awaited by all.

The day commemorates the birth of Lord Krishna, also known as Govinda in Maharashtra. Krishna is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Every year we observe the age-old tradition of Dahi Handi all across the country.

The trend goes back to the time when Lord Krishna used to make a human pyramid and break open the pots of Dahi and Maakhan. This is a style in which we relive the playfulness of Lord Krishna.

Have you witnessed any such Dahi Handi around you? Capture your experience of this festival and participate in our Contest. We believe every photo has a meaning or purpose, share the story along with the photo to express YOU!
